What if . . . Mary had a pet ELEPHANT?!

Today for Thinking Thursday we used the What if? thinking key to talk about what might have happened if Mary had a pet elephant that followed her to school. Here are some of our ideas.

If Mary had a pet elephant and it followed her to school ...

it would smash all the classrooms and it would squirt the people. EQ
it would take me home in the middle of school time. JB
it would give some kids some rides home. They might be able to sit on its back. KCS
I think that he might join the baseball team and use his trunk to hit the ball. SB
it will give me a ride home. HG
it might break the book box shelf and muddle all the books. We wouldn't be able to read from the book boxes. KM
it might stand on peoples toes. It will hurt very, very, very much. EH
it could give the children a ride on its back at lunchtime. CB
it would slide down the muddy hill and the elephant would get muddy. CW
it might squash Mary and it might also mess her desk. She would be angry. AM
it would go in the slide and after that it would go to the swimming pool. KO
it would spray water with its trunk. AH
it will go to the pool and squirt people. RW

What do you think might have happened?

What if our pet followed us to school?

When Mary's lamb followed her to school it was very well behaved and it waited patiently outside for her. But what if one of our pets followed us to school? We did some writing using our ideas. Some of us thought about our own pet and some of us wrote about an imaginary pet.

CV had
a little snail,
it followed him to school
and slimed the window. (Ew yuck!)

LM had a little dog,
it followed him to school,
it went in the classroom and messed it up. (Naughty dog!)

PA had a little cat,
it followed him to school,
it had a sleep in the library and then it played in the garden. (Well behaved cat!)

KB had a little snake,
it followed him to school,
it stayed outside and ate the teachers. (That's horrible!)

BC had a little cat named Rusty,
it followed him to school,
he sat on the grass in the sun and had a nap. (Good cat!)

JR had a little cat,
it followed her to school
and she played outside in the sun. (Another good cat!)

Thinking Hat Thursday - How to fix Humpty Dumpty . . .

Today we put on our green thinking hats to come up with some new ways to try and fix Humpty Dumpty.

We thought the kings horses and men could have:
used extra sticky glue to stick the pieces back together
stuck him back together with lots of plasters
used lots of cellotape to tape him back together
asked Harry Potter to use magic to put him back together
used bandages to put the pieces back together
used super glue to glue the pieces back together
got a nurse or a doctor to sew the pieces back together

Can you think of another way to fix Humpty Dumpty?

Why was Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall?

Today for writing we came up with some interesting reasons that Humpty Dumpty might have been sitting on the wall. Here are some of our most creative ideas!

I think Humpty Dumpty was sitting on the wall because . . .
he wanted to sit in the sun. He is cold and the sun is hot. PA
he was waiting for a taxi because he was going to the airport. SB
a bird picked him up because he was hungry and he was going fast and he dropped Humpty Dumpty down on the wall. JB
he fell from a tall tree. LM
the aeroplane broke down and he fell on the wall. KCS
he was shopping and then he got lots and remembered that his mother told him to sit on the wall and then he was smiling because he saw his mother. EH

Can you think of an interesting reason why he might have been sitting on the wall? Leave us your idea!

Humpty Dumpty

Do you know what happened to Humpty Dumpty? Who tried to help him? Can you describe what happened in this version of Humpty Dumpty?

New Term - New Topic!

Can you use our Wordle brainstorm to work out what our topic is for this term? Can you think of any more ideas we could have added to our Wordle?
